I first started getting into TTRPGs after getting roped into running a Dungeons & Dragons campaign in 2019, having never played before. We were going to use Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (1977), but switched over to 5e at the last minute. My first adventure was The Keep on the Borderlands (1979), and while my running of the adventure certainly had it's problems, and the adventure maybe wasn't the best fit for the heroic fantasy of 5e, I became quite fond of the old school art and style. While I'm not going back to AD&D anytime soon, I'm planning to dip my toes into the OSR through a Shadowdark RPG campaign (see the [[ttrpgs/Campaign for Misty Lake/Campaign Pitch|Campaign Pitch]]), and will share my insights and planning processes as they come up.
